All parts are now at the pressing plant and should see the light of day at the end of January. The packaging is stellar on this, designed and mastered by Mories of Aderlating. Strictly limited to 300 copies on splatter wax with full color sleeve. A true morbid parchment of sound detonation.

Zebulon Pike will be making there way through the mid-west next month, unleashing their powerful prog-doom, metal-tinged temperament. Highly recommended to check out live. See dates on the tour page.

Firstly, Dan Lerner has created the new logo for Chrome Leaf (see below). It’s been a while in the works but was more than worth the wait. Shirts are in the works so if you are interested in ordering one, get in touch with me here. He has a new production company that is just beginning to take off called Black Moon. Expect more output from him via Chrome Leaf in the near future.

On to band news. The May ‘08 issue of Metal Maniacs features a Deadsea cd contest in which 5 winners will receive a free copy of the new opus. Deadsea are also featured in the new June ‘08 progressive issue of Metal Edge. There is a full page feature of the band as well as a review of the self-titled cd. This is a great issue with Opeth, Boris and a host of other great bands out today. Stay tuned for a print review in the June issue of Metal Maniacs as well. They will be playing all over the east coast and midwest this summer so keep coming back to check for tour dates. Plans are being worked out for a west coast venture at some point this year as well. This will be the first time deadsea have made it west of the ole’ Mississipp.

Prosantus Inferi have a review of the one-sided lp that is currently sold out (actually there are about 8 or so copies left. Email me if interested in getting one) in the May issue of Metal Maniacs. Plans are in the works to repress the mini-lp in time for the SACRIFICE OF THE NAZARENE CHILD FESTIVAL June 21 (Summer Solstice). The band will have copies of the lp for sale at the show, as well as t-shirts. Please, if you are at the show, buy one of each to help the band cover expenses incurred getting down there for this monster of a show.
Here is a review that Aquarius records gave the Prosanctus Inferi mLP:
When we first put this on, the aQ death metal experts were convinced this was some old DM classic reissued. We were hearing Deicide, Slayer, Darkthrone, but a bit more on the grind side, hints of Circle Of Dead Children and Phobia, but the more we listened, the more it sounded too dense and heavy, too furious and frantic, and even though it definitely borrowed from the classics BIG TIME, it sounded too modern. This is in fact the latest record from a band called Prosanctus Inferi who hail from Columbus, Ohio, and who recorded this festering chunk of buzzing black sickness just last year!
These guys definitely know their shit. Spewing a relentless stream of furious snarling blackened buzz, relentless and filthy, the production incredibly dense and suffocating, the guitars massive, no tinny insect like buzzing, the riffs here ROAR, the drums blast and pound, the sound is definitely rooted in black metal, but is definitely on the blackened side, and most of the songs veer into short stretches of tangled grind, shades of early Carcass, but whoever they’re borrowing from, PI whip their various influences into a total head spinning black death workout, shifting gears every few seconds, riffs splintering apart, brutal blasts slowing down into doomy grooves, then exploding back into some static death metal pound. Another online review described this record as “virgin hammering goat blasting black death metal” and who are we to argue?
LIMITED TO 100 COPIES, already nearly sold out at the label. Swank two sided silkscreened sleeves, the back side just a half sleeve revealing the lp inside.

PORTAL (Brisbane, Australia) have sent over the artwork for the Lurker at the Threshold EP to be released this summer. It will be a full colour picture disc featuring two of the three tracks on the original cassette version. With mastering handled by the band, we are more than stoked to get this one on a turntable near you. All copies will be hand-numbered and limited to 1000 copies.

deadsea will have a 500 word feature in the June 2008 issue of Metal Edge featuring Opeth, Boris and others. Be sure to check your local news stands for that. They will be featured in the ‘Rock on the Rise’ segment of the magazine.

Prosanctus Inferi will have their first live show ever since their inception some two years ago. They will be performing at the Legion of Doom in Columbus, OH February 10th with some other killer metal acts. Remaining copies of the mLP will be sold at the show. Online ordering will no longer be accepted. Copies can still be ordered online at Relapse and Aquarius records. Expect a repress soon.
January 26th, 2008
Of the initial pressing, there are about 15 copies left. The response has been great in the month that it’s been out. A repress is slated sooner than expected. Be on the lookout for a review in Metal Maniacs soon!
In other news, the mastering for the next Chrome Leaf release has been completed, courtesy of Aphotic, for Portal’s Lurker at the Threshold picture disc ep. This release will be out early Spring ‘08.
Sequencing for the new Black Dove lp, titled No Future/No Fate, is complete. This will be a split release with Solar Funeral. I’m told there will be some sick silver foil print on the jacket. This will be out in Spring as well, just in time for their east coast tour with Gasmask Terror from France.

2008 will see a slew of releases via Chrome Leaf. First and foremost I am extremely excited to be able to unleash a (tentative) picture disc 7″ from Australia’s very own aural surgeons PORTAL . This will document the band’s recent cassette ‘Lurker at the Threshold’, including 13 Globes and Omnipotent Crawling Chaos. Needless to say, I am way amped about this one. Stay tuned for future manifestations…
